This dynamic class is for dance students at intermediate and above level, and offers an array of styles in ballroom, latin, swing, jazz, modern, and musical theatre. Artistically and technically developing oneself in movement styles, stage presentation, and learning choreography for demos and performances is a focus of this fun and challenging class. Co-requisite: at least one other DanceTales class.
Jazz dance and jazz music are traced to the origins of the rhythms and movements brought to America by African slaves; and reflect American historical events, cultural changes, and influences from music and social dances of its eras. Jazz dance is an art form founded on a firm technical base, yet has great varying styles. It can be energetic and sensuous, clean and cool, subtle, or abstract and remote. It is usually associated with musicals, television, and films.
